Welcome to the Language Centre of Gran Canaria (Tlc)

Tlc is a modern language academy situated in front of the sea in a quiet residential area of La Garita. With 13 classrooms and over 350 students and trainees taking classes every week we are certainly one of the biggest language providers on the island, and are considered to be a centre of excellence within the local community.

We specialise in Business English and offer courses and classes at all levels for the busy professional. We also offer a wide variety of internationally reconised business qualifications - including the LCCIEB and Trinity oral examinations. (see separate entries).

All Business courses are tailor made to suit our clients specific needs, so each Tlc course is unique. All course material is specific to your company and the needs of the language learners within your company. We call this our "Learner Centred Approach".

Courses are flexible. From 2 or 3 hours a week for (say) 20 hrs or intensive weekday, weekend, or evening courses.

Courses are run in Tlc centre or in your place of work, or a combination of both.

All courses are modular and include Skills Workshops and Simulations - where learners use their language skills in authentic "real life" situations.

Company and student feedback on each session is an important factor for learner/course development and success

A free needs analysis is conducted before course start and includes input from Management, the learners themselves - and Tlc - to negotiate (and justify) the language requirements needed to be taught on the course.

All business courses are topic or theme based and offer a wide variety of practical business situations and activities.

Learners are immersed in an authentic business environment from day 1 and are encouraged to take part in the planning and structuring of their own course of study on a day to day basis, negotiating the needs and priorities of the group as a whole, and their own personal needs in particular.

Tlc also provide intensive, quality weekday/weekend courses and seminars for businesss throughout the year.

Not all study needs to be in the classroom

These courses are aimed at busy people who can only afford a limited amount of time away from their work and need to be immersed in the language for a short period (say 1,2, or 3 complete days or for a weekend). We also provide total immersion and homestay courses in Canterbury in the UK (1 and 2 week stays).

As with all Tlc courses, group size is small and a free needs is conducted before course start.

Courses are run specifically for the needs of each group, ensuring maximum exposure to the language.

Intensive courses can be arranged for individuals on a one to one basis and can be undertaken at Tlc centre or at your place of work, or a combination of both.
